OUT OF AREA TREATMENT

Care or treatment provided to a PATIENT by one or more HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS where there is no NHS SERVICE AGREEMENT between the HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS and the ORGANISATIONS responsible for commissioning the PATIENT's care or treatment.

In these circumstances the care or treatment is covered by the NHS SERVICE AGREEMENT between the HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS providing the care or treatment and their main commissioner; this provision of care or treatment is recognised as an OUT OF AREA TREATMENT.
