1. This diagram shows the classes relevant to the LEGAL STATUS of PATIENTS.

2. A PATIENT who has been detained or is a long-term PATIENT under one of the psychiatric MAIN SPECIALTIES will have a LEGAL STATUS. A detention order may commence before a PATIENT is admitted to hospital. The LEGAL STATUS may change after admission to hospital and a detention order may be in force after the PATIENT’s HOSPITAL PROVIDER SPELL has been completed.
