The option chosen by a PATIENT for the acquisition of his/her unpowered wheelchair.

The Wheelchair Voucher Scheme gives PATIENTS three choices:

a.	To accept the wheelchair prescribed (the prescription option)
b.	To contribute to the cost of a more expensive wheelchair of their choice, they will own the wheelchair and be responsible for its maintenance and repair (the independent option)
c.	To contribute to the cost of a more expensive wheelchair of their choice from a range selected by the local wheelchair service, the NHS will own the wheelchair and be responsible for its maintenance and repair (the partnership option)

WHEELCHAIR SERVICES VOUCHERS will only be issued to PATIENTS selecting the independent and partnership options.
