The Delivery and Birth Episode records contain the data items contained in the General Episode record and the additional birth data fields in this table. These additional data fields can be repeated up to five times more to cover multiple births.

It should be noted that Field 12 - DECIDED TO ADMIT DATE from the General Episode record is not completed for Delivery and Birth Episode records.

These additional data fields are required for finished and unfinished episodes.

Delivery Episode
A Delivery Episode record is required when there has been a delivery resulting in a registrable birth. The information is taken from the birth notification for each baby born and added to the mother's record.

An Unfinished Delivery Episode record is required for all unfinished Delivery Episodes at midnight on 31 March.

Birth Episode
A Birth Episode record is required when there has been a delivery resulting in a registrable birth. The information is taken from the birth notification for each baby born and added to the baby's record.

An Unfinished Birth Episode record is required for all unfinished Birth Episodes at midnight on 31 March.
