GN010 - SERVICE POINTS

  1. This diagram is centred around SERVICE POINT which is used to represent the organisational structure of an ORGANISATION SITE and other associated classes.

  2. A SERVICE POINT is a concept used to indicate a unit of management responsible for delivering services within an ORGANISATION SITE. It is assumed that ORGANISATIONS have hierarchical management structures so one SERVICE POINT may have many other SERVICE POINTS beneath it in the hierarchy, but a SERVICE POINT may have only one SERVICE POINT above it in the management structure.

  3. SERVICE POINT is shown on other diagrams to indicate the part of the organisational structure relevant to that particular diagram. For example, HP110 shows WARD to belong to a SERVICE POINT, but that a SERVICE POINT may contain many WARDS. A WARD therefore need not be a SERVICE POINT, but only a part of one. ACCIDENT AND EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT on HP160 is shown as a type of SERVICE POINT, indicating that it must act as an individual unit responsible for delivering services. SERVICE POINTS are a main focal point for the collection of all data including hospital and community activity, estates, workforce and finance.
