PRIMARY OR SUBSEQUENT COURSE

An indicator used to identify whether a RADIOTHERAPY TREATMENT COURSE is the first or follow-up course of treatment for a particular disease.

Classification:

a. Primary course; the first in which the treatment has been given for a particular disease
b. Subsequent course; prescribed for lesions that stem from or are secondary to a disease that has already been treated by a radiotherapy machine. Subsequent courses can be further sub-divided into those where:
i. the previous course was administered in the HEALTH CARE PROVIDER
ii. the previous course was administered in another HEALTH CARE PROVIDER
