A type of GMP EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT.

An arrangement whereby a single-handed isolated GENERAL MEDICAL PRACTITIONER, in conjunction with one or more other single-handed isolated GENERAL MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS, employs a GENERAL MEDICAL PRACTITIONER as an Associate. The Associate GMP deputises for the single-handed GPs, releasing the latter for training, regular time off, etc., in situations where continuous on-duty is an otherwise inescapable feature of the provision of general medical services.

Although the Associate GMP may provide cover for several single-handed isolated GPs only one GENERAL MEDICAL PRACTITIONER is responsible for employing the associate GENERAL MEDICAL PRACTITIONER.
