EMERGENCY TREATMENT

A type of PERSON GMP ASSOCIATION.

An agreement between a PATIENT and a GENERAL MEDICAL PRACTITIONER whereby the PATIENT receives treatment, in the case of an accident or other emergency, from a GENERAL MEDICAL PRACTITIONER. EMERGENCY TREATMENTS can involve one or more EMERGENCY TREATMENT SERVICES.

To qualify for emergency treatment payment, the PATIENT either must not be on the permanent list of the GENERAL MEDICAL PRACTITIONER or that of a partner in the same GENERAL MEDICAL PRACTITIONER PRACTICE, or must only be resident within the locality for a period not exceeding 24 hours.

Note that EMERGENCY TREATMENTS reimbursement cannot be claimed by those GENERAL MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS who hold a Personal Medical Services, as opposed to a General Medical Services, contract.
