Definition:
When exchanging CDS data, this is an optional data element and when used is a unique number generated by the sender and inserted into the CDS data to enable senders and recipients to be able to cross-match and uniquely identify each and every CDS record.
The CDS-RID consists of the following components:

* The NHSCDS EDIFACT Message configures this data item as an an14 format element, but a maximum user value of 9,999,999 is permitted in the format of n7.
Usage:
This item has been defined as a CDS data item to support the carrying of pseudonymised data in the CDS.
The CDS-RID is an an optional identity assigned to each record by the CDS sender to aid the identification and cross-referencing of data between the sender and the receiver(s) of the CDS data.
CDS-XML Interchanges:
The CDS-RID data element is carried in the CDS Message Header.
NHSCDS EDIFACT Interchanges:
The NHSCDS EDIFACT Message does not directly support this as an individual data item but the equivalent reference information may be generated and/or related to the data elements referenced in the chart above.
IGS Interchanges:
Applicable to CDS IGS processes.
