PERSON INITIALS is the same as PERSON NAME WORD where the PERSON NAME WORD TYPE equals 'e. Person Initials'.
This is the e-GIF standard that should be used for all new and developing systems and for XML messages. For existing CDS EDIFACT messages however, PATIENT NAME should be used.

This can be used to record a person's full set of initials or used in conjunction with and in addition to a Person Given Name. General practice of central departments is to record the first Given Name in full and then use initials for other Given names. |
