An ORAL HEALTH PROGRAMME is a type of STRUCTURED PROGRAMME providing either screening or health promotion/prevention services. Each programme will have one or more DENTAL STAFF MEMBERS IN PROGRAMMES.

Each FACE TO FACE CONTACT DENTAL involves a meeting of one PATIENT from the ORAL HEALTH AGE GROUPS and (at least) one DENTAL STAFF MEMBER IN PROGRAMME.

A further community dentistry SERVICE by HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS is DENTAL TREATMENT.

Several DENTAL TREATMENTS may be given at each DENTAL TREATMENT CONTACT and each contact will be between one PATIENT and one DENTAL STAFF MEMBER responsible for the treatment. More than one contact could take place during one visit by a PATIENT to a dental surgery, if DENTAL TREATMENT is given by more than one DENTAL STAFF MEMBER and each are in different dental staff groups.

Each contact will belong to one DENTAL EPISODE. It will finish either because a course of treatment is completed or following three months when the PATIENT has failed to make contact.

The hours spent by DENTAL STAFF MEMBERS as part of ORAL HEALTH PROGRAMMES are recorded by DENTAL STAFF MEMBER IN PROG IN PERIOD and time spent on general treatments are recorded by DENTAL STAFF MEMBER IN PERIOD.
