1. This diagram, GN040 and GN060 illustrates SERVICES by hospitals and non-hospital services. This diagram just shows hospitals treatment courses and visits.

2. A SERVICE will comprise one or more services or activities, grouped together in order to relate to NHS SERVICE AGREEMENTS.

3. Many of the classes shown, such as CONSULTANT EPISODE (HOSPITAL PROVIDER), PATIENT PROCEDURE, CONSULTANT OUT-PATIENT EPISODE are examples of hospital services and are therefore linked to SERVICE. Each of the hospital services optionally linked to SERVICE may (but need not) be identified separately for contracting purposes.
